Take Care of Your Soul
by Rev. Sarah Campbell
Beloved congregation,
I woke up in the middle of the night wondering what to write in this month’s feature. There’s so much I want to say.
Do I tell you about Faith Formation Sunday and how it feels—for the first time since Covid—like we are back, like our Sunday School is humming once again? Bree was thrilled, when she shared at our staff meeting about the classes, the teachers, the youth and children. And the Adult Faith Formation classes are growing.
Do I encourage you to pay attention to all the news about our WIAN (What’s In A Name) process and to really engage, to vote? Because it’s happening now. We are deciding whether to change our name as we head into this church’s next century. Don’t hesitate to contact Kate Andrews Van Horne if you have any questions, any questions at all.
Do I remind you to get your Covid booster now? And, while you are at it, the flu shot? And, as I often say, we are so grateful for modern medicine!!
Yes, all of this, but what I most want to tell you is: Take care of your soul. Please, take such good care of your soul. Go for your daily walk. Limit your intake of daily news. Do your meditation or prayer practice, or return to the practice you once did. Be kind to everyone. And take care of your soul.
These are the times that try men’s souls, Thomas Paine once said. These are the times that try our souls. And let’s hold on to one another so no one is alone. We can do this together.
In Christ,
Sarah
