About Our Name Change – Creekside United Church of Christ

The What’s In A Name? committee concluded its work in November 2024 after the congregation voted on November 3 to change the name of Mayflower UCC to Creekside United Church of Christ.

The Leadership Team is working with a small group to do behind-the-scenes name change work: legal, branding, website, signage, etc. Worship planning team is creating communal rituals to move us through thanksgiving (for what the name Mayflower has meant to us), letting go, and new name.

Our timeline is ambitious but we hope to be complete by Lent.

Creekside UCC is a courageous, progressive congregation of the United Church of Christ. We share joy in worship and fellowship, nurture people of all ages as an intergenerational community, seek to grow in mind and spirit, support one another in times of grief, and pursue healing and justice in the world around us.

We gather on the sacred ancestral homeland of the Dakota people. We acknowledge and honor the Dakota, Ojibwe, and Ho-Chunk peoples who still live here and those who were violently removed from land they’d loved for generations. We seek healing for the land, its waters, its people, and all life from the violence of colonialism. And so, we commit to transforming Christian ideas and practices that have fueled harm, learning from Indigenous wisdom, and pursuing justice in kinship with our Indigenous members and neighbors.
